The Deep Sky comes to Northampton Print E-mail

abell12_tasselli.jpgThe annual Deep Sky Section meeting will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, in the Humfrey Rooms, Castilian Terrace, Northampton. The meeting starts at 11am with refreshments available from 10.30am.

Admission is £7 (payable at the door) which includes a buffet lunch and tea / coffee throughout the day.
All BAA members are welcome. No need to book in advance.

Northampton is centrally placed with good road and rail connections and good car parking.

11.30 - 12.15  High resolution imaging of planetary nebulae - Andrea Tasselli
12.15 - 13.00  A pinch of SALT - Paul Clark
13.00               Lunch
14.30 - 15.15  Going deep - Grant Privett
15.15 - 16.00  Two-colour imaging of the deep sky - BAA President, Richard Miles
16.00               Afternoon Tea
16.30 - 17.15  The northern sky H-alpha survey - Prof. Janet Drew (Imperial College)
17.15 - 17.30  Meeting round up - Stewart Moore

We also hope to fit in short talks on OJ287 - an update (Gary Poyner) and Howell-Crisp 1 - a newly discovered planetary nebula (Owen Brazell).

With interesting talks and good speakers it promises to be another excellent meeting.  I look forward to seeing you there.
