The Centre for Astrophysics, University of Porto in Portugal are co-ordinating a one day global solar observation campaign as part of the IYA 2009 . They are asking for all observers to take a telescope out to the public at 12 noon (local time) on 1st January 2009 and attract interest in solar observation. It is aimed at attracting Press interest to launch IYA 2009.
