Instruments and Imaging Section
This year the Association is introducing an Internet-based system allowing Members access to robotic telescopes and imaging systems at attractive rates. Jeff Moreland has recently been appointed Robotic Telescope Coordinator, under the auspices of the Instruments and Imaging Section, and preliminary information is now on the Section website (URL below). Follow the link to Robotic Telescope Project. The website has also been updated with Tom Boles' latest supernova discoveries.

The Centre for Astrophysics, University of Porto in Portugal are co-ordinating a one day global solar observation campaign as part of the IYA 2009 <http://www.astronomy2009.org/
They are asking for all observers to take a telescope out to the public at 12 noon (local time) on 1st January 2009 and attract interest in solar observation. It is aimed at attracting Press interest to launch IYA 2009.

The BAA Variable Star Section is organising a Variable Star Observing Workshop in Edinburgh on Saturday 18th October 2008. The workshop will be held at the Royal Observatory, Edinburgh.The workshop will last from 10.30 am to 4pm. There will be a £10 charge which will include lunch. Included in the day will be a short presentation by the RO of its Crawford collection.
