Description
As the sun continues to be quite active we are receiving a number of aurora reports. This image was captured by Denis Buczynski at Portmahomack on 3rd September and is one of a series sent in. Denis comments as follows:
(The Aurora was) first seen at around 23:00 UT when cloud began to clear and strong vertical beams were easily above an arc about 10 degrees high. I managed to get some images but conditions were not good. Strong moonlight from a waning gibbous moon in the eastern sky combined with gale force winds and quickly moving clouds
all combined to reduce the opportunity of getting a long series of images.
This image was taken at 2245 UT and was a 20s exposure at ISO 1600 28mm f2.8 using a Canon 400d.
