Here is an image of Mercury recorded on Saturday afternoon at IR 742nm. I imaged at 807nm as well, but, maybe due to the longer exposure necessary, the results were less sharp.

There is a prominent bright spot S of the equator towards the limb. I have measured this position using WinJUPOS, and it corresponds to long 33, lat -12. This agrees well enough with the position of the brilliant  ray crater Kuiper (long 31.5 lat -11.5), the brightest spot on Mercury.

Not terribly accomplished but showing what I could clearly see with the small refractor. South is at the top in my views. The S cusp marking on the 7th was almost as noticeable as I've rendered it here. I forgot to add to the drawing that I also used a green filter on that date and that marking was particularly clear through it.

Taken at 19 deg altitude, in fairly good seeing with my 12" newt + DMK21AU04 + Astronomik RGB filters. 100 frames were used in the stack.

I'm pretty sure there's an albedo feature in the red and green channels, like an "hour hand" of a clock, pointing to about the "4" position. I've re-stacked and recombined a number of times and it keeps appearing, so I'm guessing/hoping it's real but have no way of confirming it. The Starry Night simulator of Mercury at that time does show a dark albedo region at about that position, so it could be it. Happy for anyone to prove me wrong or right

I managed a wide field observation on the 6th when Mercury was close to conjunction with the 1.5 day old Moon. Mercury was at approx 10 deg above the NW horizon
