Here are images for the record/archive illustrating the development of the outburst coma of 174P ranging from 0.4 to 16.8 days post-outburst. The coma now measures at least 80 arcseconds across and has maintained its hemispherical appearance with an extension of 10-12 arcseconds in p.a. 180 degrees. Surface brightness of these features has reduced considerably and no discrete condensation remains visible in the vicinity of the nucleus Future observations should concentrate on detecting any resurgence in the activity of the nucleus detectable photometrically. The extensive set of LCOGT images have yet to be fully analysed to see if any mini-outburst can be detected in the data. |
