In the old days astronomers used to set their mounts using setting circles and sidereal clocks. This beautiful sidereal clock used to belong to Reggie Waterfield (somewhere there is a picture of a very young Denis Buczynski standing in front of it in Waterfield’s Epsom observatory) but he passed it on to Mike Hendrie when he died. Following Mike’s death earlier this year we would like to find a good home for it.

    Is anyone interested?

    Hi Nick,

Orwell Park Observatory might be interested in the clock to replace the Dent time piece that went missing during the war. There is a clock shaped hole in the transit chamber wall that this clock would need to fit. So do you have more detailed dimensions?

It would be great to have a proper clock in the observatory again.

Hi Paul. I’m there next weekend and will measure it. We currently have no idea as to its value but would like to find a good home for it. These has been some interest from a few people so I’ll be in touch once we have decided how to procede.
