So how far does the dust trail extend on both sides of the comet? This shot attempts to answer this question by shooting a fast lens for many hours on the comet from a dark sky site. The field here is 12 degrees wide, so on the right (west) side it seems to extend around 5 degrees. The eastern side is a bit more difficult due to extensive IFN however it is clearly much shorter, perhaps half the length. -10P - Tempel 2 with tail and dust trail -Date/Time Local: 6/20/26 1:30am MST -Date/Time UT: 6/20/26 8:30 UT -FOV: 18.4 x 6.4 degrees -Orientation: N up -Seeing:2 -Transparency: 9 -Scale: 41 arcsec/Pixel -Instrument: Zeiss Milvus 135mm f/2 -Exposure: 3.5h min total -Camera: ASI2600MC -Location: Happy Jack,AZ |
