Just a very quick report. Got a view of Lovejoy in the 12” Mewlon last night, couldn’t go to a better Southern view as I had family around so had to make do with the observatory. Anyway just able to get it partially obscured by out of focus trees on the Southern horizon in the distance. My Sky 6 said it was at 6 degs altitude. Compared to Finlay earlier which I could only just detect it was very bright and at least twice the size. I suspected there may have been a short stubby tail pointing downwards in my straight through totally inverted view but the trees were spoiling the view. Sketch was more to record the moment rather than any accurate detail. |
