Measuring from my sketch, a faint, diffuse outer coma around the head could be traced out to about 4 or 5 min diameter. The tail is about 13 mins long. No structure was visible in the coma under the higher magnification. There was no colour. The sky is quite milky in places with drifting patches of high level haze and jet vapour trails. At times I had the impression of a second tail leaving the head at about 7 or 8 o’clock on the sketch, thinner and longer than the obvious dust tail. This would be an ion gas tail. I am not confident enough in the sighting to put it on the sketch.
