Comet C/2017 K2, imaged this morning (11:00 UT, March 6) with the Las Cumbres Observatory facility at McDonald Observatory in Texas. Hard to believe the comet is this bright and active at a heliocentric distance of 14.4 AU. It's so unfortunate that it does not get all that close to the sun or Earth, and (for us northerners) it is strictly a southern hemisphere object around the time it is brightest. |
