After a lot of struggling with the effects of thin cloud and light pollution I have finally got this image in a state that I am reasonably happy with. This is the blue component from a stack of 30 x 20s exposures using a Sony A7s and a 50mm lens. The frame is cropped a bit horizontally and then rotated so N is up. The ion tail is still going at around 27 deg out of the frame. I've annotated a few objects and M81/M82 are in the ion tail about 25 deg from the head.

This would have been a lot easier to do from a dark mountain top but it does show what is possible from the southeast of England with a lot of processing. I've had to remove significant gradients from this and there are some artefacts but I don't think there is much more I can do with the material I have.
