C/2020 S3 Erasmus on 2020 November 12 at 17:30UT.
My visual estimate through 15x70mm binoculars was 8.0,
a moderate to strong (DC6) disk shaped coma 4' across.
No tail was visually observed but there is an ion tail about 1 degree long photographically.
Calculated photometric parameters h0=8.5, n=4. may see the comet at magnitude 7.0 on Nov 22, 6.0 on Nov 30,
and peak at magnitude 5.0 on December 12, when the comet will be 0.40AU from the Sun.
As the comet is periodic, it should survive its Solar encounter and be visible in SOHO C3 from Dec 18. See less
