On the evening of 2021 December 24 UT the clouds parted for about 7 minutes when the comet was at an altitude of 9 degrees. The comet was a little brighter this evening with a coma 7' wide and the tail >1 degree at PA 94 degrees, both the coma and tail (the small part of it that I image) showed a little more structure than last evening. Astrometrica calculated magnitudes of G=4.5 from 10x10s green filter images and G=4.3 from 10x10s unfiltered images at an altitude of 9 degrees. Then thin clouds rolled back in before any color images could be collected. |
