This NEOCP object is around mag 20.5 at the moment and moving at around 4 arcsec/min and accelerating. The orbit is cometary and it does look soft in my images. I expect that it will be announced as a comet soon. It is high in the morning sky. It comes to perihelion on March 15 with q = 1.27 au. Closest approach to the Earth is mid Feb when it reaches all of mag 19.5! |
