On 18.854 May I observed comet C/2021 O3 again with the Frasso Sabino telescope. I remember that the scale is 1".34/pixel the field of view is 28'.6x22'.9 with north perfectly up and east on the left. The image is the sum of 30x40s (total 1200s) with the clear filter. Compared to the evening of the 14th the conditions were much better, comet 10 degrees higher and the Moon below the horizon. The estimated magnitude is 14.9 for a diameter of 59" (44pixel). Perhaps the coma was even more extensive but the problem is that there are many stars that enter the field and disturb. I am convinced that there is a so-called "false" nucleus very faint but in my case there is the star that almost covers it. It would take a much larger telescope and perhaps it could observe the real nucleus as well. |
