C/2022 P1 NEOWISE appears significantly brighter than the current ephemeris magnitude.(16)

I estimate from an image a UCAC4 V magnitude of 12.4 and coma diameter of 5'.

As well as an image taken remotely from Chile on 2022 Aug 30 at 08:47UT. ITEL T71 500 mm f/2.8 Takahashi Epsilon + CMOS. 5 min. FOV 30'. North up.

It is currently situated in Cetus, travelling south-westwards about 1 degree per day, and brightening.

The comet will be closest to Earth at 0.85 AU on September 25th, where it may peak at 10-11 magnitude, followed by a Sun approach of 1.59AU on November 28.

The orbit is Halley type with orbital period of about 94 years, retrograde.
