C2023_A3_Tsuchinshan_ATLAS_RAASA8_ASI6200mcP_25x10sec_2024_10_13_192512local_OhRidge_California_USA_DEBartlett From last night...Finally some darker skies to catch comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan - ATLAS from 38 degrees North Latitude. A little over six minutes was used in this moderately close in (BIN2x2) view yet a 5 x 3 degree field to see the comet. SpectroPhotoMetricColorCalibration process in PixInsight was used to calibrate the star colors leading to a red/orange appearance of the comet. We're all dealing with both heavy twilight and moonlight viewing this comet. The bright conditions are wreaking havoc on the gradients instilled in the fast F/2 RASA system. It will be interesting to see what tonight will bring with similar setup and a few more degrees of altitude, darkness and moonlight.
