I managed my first observation of the comet this evening using by 10 x 32 binoculars. I started at 1840UT but the sky was too bright. I tried again at 191UT and I was able to see the comet very easily in the binoculars. Attached is a drawing of the comet- the bright bluish star in the field is Lambda Ophiuchi which I used to estimate the magnitude. Lambda Oph is a double star and the bright blue component is listed as Mv= 3.9. I estimate the comet at: 39-1 giving a Mv= 4.0 |
