C/2023 P1 (Nishimura) is now appearing in southern morning skies and I had a try for it this morning. Very difficult job considering the light skies and that it has faded off a lot. Nothing showed in the subs but by mangling them with high contrast before stacking I was able to get it as a small faint blob. The result is too poor to estimate a magnitude but it would have to be out in the m1 = 9 to 10 range. The upper parts of the image shows stars into the mid mag 11s but not that deep lower down. |
