Although it was relatively easy to see C/2024 G3 this morning (Jan 7 18:30 UT) in 10x42 binoculars it wasn't possible to get a direct brightness measurement because some low cloud prevented viewing until very deep into twilight However, by identically comparing equally acquired images from the previous morning when the brightness was ascertained as 1.6, I am confident the comet is brighter and closer to mag 1.0.
