Hello everyone, the comet is really starting to fade fast. Was much dimmer today against the blue sky despite being 12 degrees from the Sun. Maybe a magnitude dimmer. What is very noticeable today was the darker ridge running down the middle of the tail. ("shadow of the nucleus"). The comets basic shape is much the same still with a reasonably long tail. Field size here is about a degree. Again, north is up and you can see the tail has now rotated nearly horizontal as it zips around the Sun! 10" f/3.8, LRGB set, Payson, Az. |
