Whatever is currently happening with comet C/2024 S1 ATLAS is remarkable. On October 19 at 3:00 UT it was 7m5 bright, showed a strongly condensed 230” coma and an ion tail at least 1° long in PW 258. The next few hours will show whether this is the final outburst. The observation was made with the 12"/f-3.6 ASA astrograph on the Tivoli farm in Namibia. Total exposure time 15 minutes.
