I managed to observe Lemmon for a solid hour without interruption using the binos. In my opinion the comet is a beautiful object and reminds me somewhat of Ikeya-Zhang in 2002. Mag +3.9, DC:7/, dust tail bright, uniform, extending approx 2 degrees 20 arc mins, curved on western side, sharper edge and more straight on east side. Ion tail not detected as far tonight due to the LP, but could see it for 2 degrees 30 arc min's approx, straight, faint, suggestion of streamers. Coma is well condensed, parabolic in shape with a green hood on the sunward facing side. Rapid motion of the comet detected to the east during the session. Comet continues to impress from the perspective of a visual observer. |
