Project Notes:
Months since its Aug5th outburst (see earlier sequence https://app.astrobin.com/i/je5hu9?r=E ) comet 220P/ McNaught can still be seen as a ghostly image of it's former self.
Measured brightness mag 13.5
The dust tail can be seen extending beyond the 2.5 degree FOV and a greenish coma can still be seen.
Over four hours of capture time between twin scopes shows the extensive dust field in the constellation of Taurus.
Closeup ( https://app.astrobin.com/i/g2mhvn?r=G ) shows a ever so slightly condensed nuclear region with a whisper of a faint irregular spine of a line and seems to be what's left after the two major eruptions.
The comet still holds some interest in appearance.
Despite the comet's faintness, its apparent motion is nearly stationary from our vantage point, despite the lengthy time on target, making this comet easier than most to capture and process.
Color calibration was performed with PixInsight's SpectrometricColorCalibration process using a white balance of the spectral class of our sun as reference.
