I have been interested in the "stars" since the age of about eight. While in my teens i joined the JAS (SPA), observing the Sun by projection, and timing lunar occultations. Im not sure why (now) i was attracted to lunar occulations, but having a stopwatch was a good start. While i was on the Monte Umbe Eclipse cruise in June 1973, I applied for BAA membership. Then in 1980 I started visual monitoring of asteroidal occultations using the predictions by Gordon E. Taylor in the BAAH. The European Asteroidal Occultation Network (EAON) based in Belgium provided more detailed predictions, and so my interest continued. Since my first observed asteroid occultation (in 2010) i have spent a total of 6 minutes in the shadow of asteroids ! In the last few years I have also video recorded some nice lunar grazing occultations with good timing accuracy. My other interests include comets, deep-sky imaging, and some other time dependent phenomena (eg EXOPLANETS).
