Cassini is still 'all systems go'

This image of the Moon was taken by the Cassini spacecraft on 1999 August 18, when it flew by the Earth on its long and complex voyage to Saturn. This was the first real test of the craft's cameras and imaging system, which functioned perfectly. Cassini gained a substantial gravity boost as it flew past Earth at a distance of 1100km above the Pacific Ocean, and is now on course for its next planetary flyby in late 2000, when the cameras will again be turned on for a rendezvous with Jupiter.
