IN 2005 AND 2006:
FINAL REPORT

Jacquesson, Marco Vedovato, Grischa Hahn)
The
Jupiter apparitions of 2004/05 and 2006 comprised the last years of
generally normal activity before the global upheaval of 2007, and they
were the first years of comprehensive hi-res imaging by amateurs.
We present a detailed account of the planet’s atmospheric
features from amateur images, including a global Zonal Drift Profile.
The main changes in 2006 – altered motions in the STropZ, and
darkening in the Equatorial Region – turned out to be fore-runners of
the global upheaval.
Because
