Some results from my recently acquired Lhires spectrograph. I was keen to take advantage of the recent spate of decent weather (June 2018) and see if I could capture some line profile variation observable over a few days.

The plot shows an animation of four observations of Halpha in Beta Lyr, taken over the nights of 26-30 June. I have used the period of 12.9 days (AAVSO) to compute a phase for each plot and have arbitrarily started with 0 on the 26th. The spectra are all divided by the continuum (rectified)  and filtered with a Guassian. The colour coding uses 'darker-to-lighter' to imply temporal progression (I had tried to upload an animation in gif, but this doesent appear to work...).

There is a clear change in going from phase 0 to 0.15, and smaller changes (but with feature trends) in the susbequent three spectra.

I have a couple of other observations which occur in a susbequent period of variability and, when phase plotted, confirm the general fetures shown here. All spectra are available in the BAA spectroscopy database.
