Taken by a friend from a wayward hot air balloon, this 2010 photo, again facing east, is a wider view. We purchased this ridgetop land in 1973, built the house in 1974 and the observatory followed becoming operational from 1 January 1980. The ridge runs north-south and is to the west of Mt Coot-tha and its television towers. We are just under 10km from the centre of city beyond by direct line so the skies are moderately light polluted, but okay for my principal interest of Moon and solar system.
