A very cold and clear night, visual magnitude 4.7 - yes really 4.7 from Bexleyheath! - Orion star count resulted in a count of 20! naked eye, many with averted vision..

The Moon was below the horizon so no werewolves to worry about, the ground was crunchy with frost so no other creatures of the night would be able to creep up on me without me knowing, and being winter all the vampires were hibernating, hmmm thinking about it, I'd better check my facts, I've just had a horrible thought that they don't hibernate the same way their Bat cousins do. I'll have to contact the relevant section director to get some advice just to be sure.
