A sample image from a series taken between 22:14 and 23:32 UT.

Pics were taken through double glazing with the camera on a mini-tripod on a window sill in the north-facing bedroom. No image processing applied, apart from cropped the horizon from the lower part of the image.

Very interesting to watch the development of the display, with subtle structures slowly changing shape as the event reached its peak and gradually diminished.

Champion, sithee.

Are you going to do a movie from your still frames?

A R Pratt's picture

Hi Ray,

I moved the camera between some of the exposures so it would be a faff to register them all to create a movie that didn't make the viewer seasick. Perhaps PIPP or something similar could do the job.

If the NLC make another bright appearance I'll keep the camera in a fixed position and combine the pics into an animation.

Clear skies,

     Alex.
