About this image
An image of the emission nebula NGC281 taken from the Grifon Educational Observatory in El Bosque, Spain, over the weekend of October 24-25. The image was a first light full colour shot for this new observatory, and was captured using an Atik 4021 cooled CCD camera at F5 attached to a Televue 102 refractor, autoguided by a Skywatcher ED100 scope/Meade DSI Pro CCD, GPUSB and PHD guide version 1.11 I used a combination of Astronomik H-Alpha, OIII and SII filters on an Atik motorized filter wheel. the image was captured using Art Capture and then processed by Nick Howes using Maxim DL and Photoshop CS4 at the observatory. The Mount was an EQ6 Pro. Challenges on the night included some software issues, and the sheer quality of the sky, which made finding many objects difficult, due to the staggering number of stars visible. The Image is presented in narrowband, with H-Alpha used as the red channel, SII as green and OIII as blue. Ian Pass
