For the past 40+ years, the planet Uranus has been traversing the south
celestial hemisphere having last time passed south of the celestial equator
on 1969 August 2. As such it has tended to be a difficult object for UK and
other northern observers over several decades. Well at last on 2011 April
12, I can report that the planet finally ventures north of the equator in
the sky and so for many years to come will be a more conveniently placed
object.
