I am delighted to announce that Council has approved the following BAA
awards for the 2012 session:


WALTER GOODACRE MEDAL AND GIFT - Ron Livesey

A BAA member since 1958, Ron served as Director of the Aurora Section
from 1982 to 2006. He received the Association's Lydia Brown Award in
1995.


MERLIN MEDAL AND GIFT - Dave Tyler

A well-known planetary and solar imager, Dave has contributed many
thousands of consistently excellent observations to various BAA
Sections, as well as responding willingly to requests for advice from
less experienced imagers.


LYDIA BROWN MEDAL AND GIFT - Ron Johnson

Ron has served as the Association's Business Secretary since 1998,
during which time his dedication, meticulous approach, knowledge and
calm judgement have provided outstanding support to Council (as well
as to eight Presidents).


I look forward with real pleasure to making the awards to our
medallists at a future meeting of the Association. Further details, as
well as full citations, will appear in due course.
