[BAA Comets] A challenge for tonight

Hi Graham/all
It is worth noting that this comet has indeed been observed at this return having been recovered by 
Sostero and Guido on 2012 May 29.6 at magnitude 19.5. It was a little way off its ephemeris 
position, but still on the frame of the CCD image taken with the Faulkes Telescope North. Subsequent 
CCD observations by Erik Bryssinck (Belgium) on 2012 May 30 by J F Soullier (France) on June 24 
confirm the recovery.The latest magnitude given on Seiichio Yoshida's Comet Page is 16.9 from a CCD 
observation by E Bryssinck on 2012 August 18. Both the observations made by Bryssinck and Soullier 
were made using telescope below 0.5 meter aperture.
None of the above takes anything away from the challenge of any observer trying to take a new and 
successful images of this comet. Any images are keenly welcomed by us, please post them to

I have just noticed that 262P/McNaught-Russell has been added to the
Comet Section site with a comment saying it has not yet been observed
this time round. When I checked the coordinates at
http://britastro.org/computing/applets_planets.html I found the comet
has just passed M56 and would make a good photo next to that globular
cluster. So I have put a chart up:
