Hi Nick,
Nice image again, that tail looks to be getting fainter. I sat outside under
total cloud cover from 1am to 3am - nothing despite forecast saying clear.
Although East Anglia was forecast clear I think it's because I'm only 12
miles West of Lowestoft, frequently the middle is clear with the coastal
area cloudy but sometimes it works the other way around. A friend of mine
got a 20 minute window from Norwich which is 12 miles to the NNW of me. I
woke at 6am for a call of nature and pristine skies so perhaps you got the
window just in time and late arriving for me.
I saw it was reported as mag 6.9 on 2nd Aug so fading but getting higher.
Forecast is for cloud and rain tonight so perhaps it'll be clear - one more
go then I'll give up, well maybe Wed/Thur night; moon sets at 1.33am :-)
Andrew

Andrew,
Did you manage to get a visual view this morning? The forecast was right for
Chelmsford and it cleared after 2am BST. I did a widefield image here:
http://www.britastro.org/cometobs/2014e2/2014e2_20140805_0220_ndj.html
which shows the faint tail(s). Using FOCAS and Kphot I get a visual
equivalent mag of 7.3.
Nick.
