<div>Hi David,</div><div>I am in full agreement that Comet 38p is more than worthy of observation and attention.It is a very interesting comet and is making a good show right now. I have been observing it since October on 20 nights. Mostly for astrometry but sometimes for posting images in the BAA Comet Archive. No doubt there are also measures made for photometry by members using Comphot. With comets such as this one (that are quite easily imaged using todays technology) there is always plenty of work that can be done which is unique and valuable. Ever night the comet displays a new view and recording and measuring these changes can prove to be a facinating and rewarding persuit for the observer. There are presently 116 images in the BAA Comet Archive taken by observers across the world during this apparition. You can see these image at this link:</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><a href="http://www.britastro.org/cometobs/38p/index.html" class="ydp5f486754enhancr_card_5808078885" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Comet</a></div><div><br></div><div id="ydpb45541e5enhancr_card_5808078885" class="ydpb45541e5yahoo-link-enhancr-card ydpb45541e5yahoo-link-enhancr-not-allow-cover ydpb45541e5ymail-preserve-class ydpb45541e5ymail-preserve-style" style="max-width: 400px; font-family: Helvetica Neue, Segoe UI, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; position: relative;" data-url="http://www.britastro.org/cometobs/38p/index.html" data-type="YENHANCER" data-size="MEDIUM" contenteditable="false"><a href="http://www.britastro.org/cometobs/38p/index.html" style="text-decoration:none !important;color:#000 !important" class="ydpb45541e5yahoo-enhancr-cardlink" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><table class="ydpb45541e5card-wrapper ydpb45541e5yahoo-ignore-table" style="max-width:400px" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"><tbody><tr><td width="400"><table class="ydpb45541e5card ydpb45541e5yahoo-ignore-table" style="max-width:400px;border-width:1px;border-style:solid;border-color:rgb(224, 228, 233);border-radius:2px" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"><tbody><tr><td><table class="ydpb45541e5card-info ydpb45541e5yahoo-ignore-table" style="background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); background-repeat: repeat; background-attachment: scroll; background-image: none; background-size: auto auto; position: relative; z-index: 2; width: 100%; max-width: 400px; border-radius: 0px 0px 2px 2px; border-top: 1px solid rgb(224, 228, 233);" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"><tbody><tr><td style="background-color:#ffffff;padding:16px 0 16px 12px;vertical-align:top;border-radius:0 0 0 2px"></td><td style="vertical-align:middle;padding:12px 24px 16px 12px;width:99%;font-family:Helvetica Neue, Segoe UI, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;border-radius:0 0 2px 0"><h2 class="ydpb45541e5card-title" style="font-size:14px;line-height:19px;margin:0 0 6px 0;font-family:Helvetica Neue, Segoe UI, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;word-break:break-word;color:#26282a">Comet</h2><p class="ydpb45541e5card-description" style="font-size:12px;line-height:16px;margin:0;color:#979ba7;word-break:break-word"></p></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></a><div class="loadingSpinnerContainer" style="position: absolute; top: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content: center; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.3);"><div class="D_F F_n gl_C ab_C H_6MGW o_h"><div class="W_6MGW H_6MGW D_X ah_1PEzoz" data-test-id="loading_indicator"><svg class="W_6MGW H_6MGW ah_Zq6hUs" viewBox="0 0 24 24" width="24" height="24"><path class="cdPFi_n cZ13pKbK_Z2aVTcY cZ1XO2Ji_dRA c2abBOT_EY cZ1vNhDV_rd cZV8aCd_pI ah_14s73" d="M12,22C6.477,22,2,17.523,2,12S6.477,2,12,2"></path><path class="cdPFi_n cZ13pKbK_Z2aVTcY cZ1XO2Ji_dRA c2abBOT_EY cZ1vNhDV_rd cZV8aCd_pI ah_14s73" d="M12,2c5.523,0,10,4.477,10,10s-4.477,10-10,10"></path></svg></div></div></div></div><div><br></div><div>I flagged up the arrival of this comet in my article about 38P and it discoverers in a previous editon of The Comet's Tale; You can see this article at this link:</div><div><br></div><div><a href="https://britastro.org/pdf/CometSection/tail36.pdf" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://britastro.org/pdf/CometSection/tail36.pdf</a></div><div><br></div><div>Please keep observing this comet and send me the images for the Archive.</div><div><br></div><div>Denis Buczynski</div><div>Secretary BAA Comet Section<br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>

<div><div dir="ltr">38P is now more than a month past perihelion, but it seems to be looking very nice in recent images taken by several observers. I thought I mention it as Nick hasn't promoted his 16 Dec image to the front page of the comet section - but it is very good, with a reasonable dust tail and notable coma features.
