About this image

Messier 81 - a fine spiral galaxy located close to Messier 82 in Ursa Major.  It was discovered by Bode in 1774 and added to Messier's catalogue in 1781.  M81 is about 10 million light years away from us and it has a diameter of about 70,000 light years.  The image was taken in Spain on 15th February, 2015 using the Planewave scope and QSI 683 camera and is an LRGB of 60:40:40:40 minutes.
