About this image
This image, taken over several nights, is of the NGC 2442/3 galaxy group in Volans - a southern skies constellation.

NGC 2442/3 is the distorted barred spiral at left (also more commonly known at the Meat hook galaxy).  It actually has two NGC numbers despite being a single galaxy.

To the right is 13th magnitude spiral galaxy PGC 21457.  Both galaxies are around 50 million ly away from us.

Damian captured this image using a remotely operated Planewave 27"CDK with FLI CCD camera.  It is an LRGB of 120/10/10/10minutes.
