About this image

Ian Sharp is spending some winter time in southern Spain and has been churning out some beautiful images, but none better than this stunning shot of the main section of the constellation of Orion.

The image was taken on 15-Dec-2015 using an Astro-modified Canon 6D camera fitted with a Canon EF 50mm F/1.4 lens, set to F/4.  Mount: Losmandy G11 and Autoguiding via a 75mm APO and SX Lodestar.  Maxim DL was used for calibration (Bias, Darks and Flats) and image processing was using PixInsight.

Exposures were 34 x 180 secs (1.7 hours)
