About this image

The director of the Griffith Park Observatory very kindly allowed me to make observations of Mars and Saturn on 30th August 2016.  It really was splendid to have the magnificent 12" Zeiss refractor all to myself!  Although low down here, due to the more sourtherly location of Los Angeles, Mars and Saturn were a good deal higher.  The seeing was very good and this is probably one of my finest viewes of Saturn I have ever had!
