About this image

A new attempt at processing data I collected in October 2016. Despite the relatively short total exposure time there is a reasonable amount of subtle detail in the filamentary structure. After further imaging I plan to return to this subject again using star masking to control the bloat of 52 Cygni and create an improved HDR image.

Subframes captured between 20:39 (9-10-16) and 00:01 (10-10-16) UTC

CCD sensor temperature: -20 degrees C

Seeing (Pickering Scale): 5 (Fair)

Transparency (AAAA Scale): 5 (Clear)

Data acquisition and processing software: PHD2, Nebulosity and Pixinsight

A lovely colour palette.

I've never knowingly noticed that filament which extends to the central star before; I thought it was maybe an artifact in your image, but looking it seems it is always there, just not as prominent as with your palette. Really nice data and processing.

Hi James, many thanks for your comments. I've enjoyed experimenting with various narrowband palettes on supernova remnants. It's encouraging to hear that you too find the Hubble palette revealing.
