About this image

The faint streak at the centre of this image is the 18th magnitude asteroid 8914. It was discovered by UK amateur Brian Manning in 1995 and originally called 1995 YP2. I was honoured that Brian named it after me and I track it down every now and again to make sure that nobody has stolen it.

Waiting for you to embark on an observing challenge to study Nickjames in more detail.

How quickly does this particular body spin, I wonder?

Is there anything anomalous about its light curve? And what happens by way of its Opposition Surge?

All questions that could benefit by way of answers!
