About this image

Alan used the remote telescope T8 at Siding Spring, New South Wales, Australia to capture this wide-field view of the Eta Carinae Nebula. The nebula is named after the very massive and unstable 5th magnitude star, η Car, which can be seen here above a dark, V-shaped rift and to the left of the aptly-named Keyhole Nebula.
