Title

Video astrometry of Near-Earth Asteroid 2017 CS

About this image

This near-Earth asteroid was picked up by Pan-STARRS-1, Haleakala on 2017 Feb 2. It was determined as having an Amor-type orbit and classified as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid (PHA). On May 29 it came within 8 lunar distances of Earth and attained mag 13.5 with a maximum apparent sky motion of about 36"/min.

The twilight skies and poor weather hindered observations, but video astrometry (and photometry) were obtained on the nights of May 26, 30, June 3 and 4.
