About this image

Comet C/2016 N4 Master is moving across the background glow of M31. NGC 206, the brightest Star Cloud in M31 as seen from Earth, has over 300 massive bright stars in one of the largest star forming regions in our local group of galaxies. NGC 206 is 4000 light years across. Other smaller Star Clouds in M31 are seen to the right of NGC 206 in this image. Note that the brighter stars in front of NGC 206 are stars in our Milky Way Galaxy.
