About this image

Mercury is now moving away from the Sun and its phase is decreasing. The seeing on this occasion was relatively good, on the better side of Ant III, so I was able to be more selective in the quality of frames to stack yet still include a good number. The verification images agree well with one another, giving confidence that the features seen are genuine, as confirmed by the reference images from Stellarium.

Approx 70,000 frames captured; frame selection using Registax and VirtualDub; stacking and processing in Registax and Iris.
