About this image

The star cluster NGC 281 is located about 9,200 light years from Earth and, remarkably, almost 1,000 light years above the plane of the Galaxy, giving astronomers a nearly unfettered view of the star formation within it.

This image is composed of two frames each of 15x300s with a 20% frame overlap.  The two frames were calibrated and integrated in PixInsight and them stitched to create a single image with PixInsight.

This was my first attempt to increase the image field of view by creating a two-frame mosaic.
