About this image

Time stated is UT and refers to the midpoint of the capture.

According to my copy of the Cambridge Photographic Atlas of Galaxies, this is a SA(s)cd -type galaxy, located at the edge of the Local Void. So it is not very far away (in galactic terms!) - about 18 million light years. It is only about 40% of the standard size of a spiral galaxy.
